Sausage is really a versatile meat. There can be an endless list of uses, and it is a food that really fits in at any time of the day. How many foods can you say that about? Ready for some timeless meal ideas? Keep reading (if you don’t get too hungry before the end).

Dress Up Dinner Favorites

We all have some of them. Admit it. You have those famous “go-to” meals. They are easy, affordable, and everyone seems to like them. So you stick to them. Why fix what isn’t broken?

Still, those solid gold hits can get old. So why not spice up some favorites with the tastier flavors of Soul Brothers Meats sausages? It can be easy to swap nearly any ground meat recipe for sausage. Liven up some of your traditions with Soul Brothers Meats’ wide selection. 

Everyone can make a basic pasta. Even the least experienced chef can boil water. But, if you are ready to take pasta night to the next level, try our Baked Ziti with Sausage recipe:

Baked Ziti (with Sausage)

INGREDIENTS: 

• 1 lb. ziti noodles
• 1 ½ lb. of Soul Brothers Meats “OG Italian” Sausage
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
• 1 t. Salt
• 1 ½ t. Sugar
• ¼ t. Crushed red pepper flakes
• 1 c. heavy cream
• ⅓ c. (plus 3T.) grated Romano cheese
• ⅓ c. Chopped basil
• 8 oz. whole milk mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS:

1. Boil ziti noodles in a large pot of salted water. (About 7 minutes to al dente)
2. Drain pasta and put back into the pot.
3. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
4. Place the oven rack to the middle position of the oven.
5. In a large pan, on medium high heat, crumble 1½ pounds of Soul Brothers Meats Italian sausage into the pan.
6. Brown sausage lightly, approximately 5 to 6 minutes.
7. Remove browned sausage with a slotted spoon.
8. Leaving 1T. of fat in the pan, but drain remaining fat.
9. Add 4 cloves of garlic, minced, and stir in, constantly stirring.
10. When softened (about 1 minute) add crushed tomatoes, salt, sugar, and red pepper flakes. 
11. Simmer, on low, for 10 minutes.
12. Add cream, Romano cheese, sausage, and basil to the pan.
13. Stir to combine.
14. Pour the contents of the pan into the pot of pasta.
15. Stir to combine.
16. Pour half of the mixture into a 13×9-inch pan.
17. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese.
18. Top with remaining pasta, remaining mozzarella, and 1½ T of Romano.
19. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the top is browned and melted.
20. Sprinkle additional basil and Romano to the top, and serve.

Breakfast for Dinner

Who says breakfast has to be served in the morning. So many of us are on the go, even on those weekend mornings, that we seldom get to cook up a full, hot breakfast. If you haven’t had a delicious warm breakfast recently, why not shake up the schedule? Have some breakfast for dinner!

If you think Soul Brothers Meats sausage flavors are for the dinner-only crowd, guess again. And, we can create dishes far beyond a simple side. With Soul Brothers Meats’ sausages, you can put a spin on even the most mundane. Trust us, this is not your Grandma’s sausage gravy recipe.

Sausage and Gravy Biscuits

INGREDIENTS:

• 16 oz. can of jumbo buttermilk biscuits 
• (Or prepare homemade if preferred)
• 10 oz. of Soul Brothers Meats Maple/Blueberry or Regular Sausage
• ¼ c. flour
• 2½ c. milk
• Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 
2. Arrange biscuits 2-inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake in a preheated oven to the package direction (about 13 to 15 minutes).
4. Brown sausage in a pan over medium heat until thoroughly cooked (about 7 minutes)
5. Stir in flour until well combined (do not drain the pan or remove the sausage).
6. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until well-mixed. 
7. Gradually add milk, stirring mixture constantly.
8. Thicken gravy and bring to a boil (continue stirring).
9. Reduce heat to medium-low.
10. Simmer and stir for an additional 2 minutes.
11. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
12. Remove biscuits from the oven when golden.
13. Halve biscuits and top with gravy mixture.

Of Course, Sausage Is a Snack

When it comes to sausage, there are no rules. Of course it can make a tasty snack. This means you don’t even have to make it a “mealtime” to have a delicious treat.

Whether it is a game day tailgate, a special celebration, or even just Tuesday afternoon (no one needs a reason to enjoy tasty meats), you can whip up sausage as a snack anytime. Even on its own, it can be a great pick-me-up in your day, filling your stomach, and giving you a boost of protein, too.

Creamy Sausage and Cheese Dip

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 lb. of Soul Brothers Meats OG Italian sausage
• 3 – 8 oz. of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
• 1 cup of shredded pepper jack cheese (or grate half of an 8 oz. block)
• 1 cup of shredded cheddar jack cheese (or grate half of an 8 oz. block)
• Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. Brown sausage in a pan over medium heat, breaking into crumbles as it cooks.
2. As sausage browns, place cream cheese into a crockpot.
3. Drain sausage, and add into the crockpot.
4. Allow to cook in the crockpot, on low, for one hour.
5. Shred and add jack cheeses (both).
6. Allow to cook for another hour.
7. Serve warm with sliced baguettes or scoop corn chips.
